Iconic & Emblematic: Ferragamo’s Gancini Buckle.

Although Gancini, the instantly recognizable double-hook fastening present on most of Ferragamo’s products, has never reached the status of the official Salvatore Ferragamo logo, it remains the fashion house’s signature.

Salvatore Ferragamo, an innovative shoe designer for the prominent woman, established a reputation in the 1930s. Gancini was inspired by the gate of Palazzo Spini Ferroni, a large gothic palace located in central Florence.

First used as a symbol in the 50s, Gancini turned into the clasp on a bag designed by Fiamma Ferragamo, Salvatore’s daughter, in the 70s, it took off in the 80s and today it is an allover pattern swarming on clothing, bags, and shoes.

Gancini is known as a vehicle to spread the Salvatore Ferragamo values. The shape at once reflects and fulfills the meaning, heralding a vision made of connected diversities.
